ESL Volunteers Needed!
No Experience Necessary
Did you know that our ESL program served more than 115 of our immigrant neighbors in 2003, 130 in 2004, 135 in 2005? That's right! And we hope to serve even more in 2007. If you are looking for a way to do meaningful work for those less fortunate consider one of the following areas of support.
You DON'T have to speak another language! All you need is a warm smile, a few hours of time and a willingness to help students eager to learn English.
Registration volunteers: The fall semester registration is complete but another semester will begin in 2008 and you can help us register students at the beginning of the semester. Please volunteer just 2 ½ hours on any of the following evenings in January: Thursday or Sunday.
Welcome coordinators: Can you give 3 hours on either Thursday or Sunday evenings for 12 weeks through the semester. Then we need you! Welcome coordinators watch the front desk, perform light office work like photocopying, set out snacks for break time, and provide a friendly greeting for our students.
Teachers and teacher aides: Interesting in teaching English to students who really want to learn? Then you can be a teacher or aide! You don't need prior experience; just come to one of our teacher training sessions.
